Privacy & Trust
A plain-language summary for teachers, leaders, and technology reviewers. The Privacy Policy and Terms are the full, binding documents; if anything here differs, they win.
What Lumerell needs
Your account details (name and email), your school and role, and the work you create: courses, lessons, materials, reviews, and notes.
Lumerell is open to schools and districts working with Open Meadow. An account can only be created for an email address or domain on the access list.
Students
Lumerell is for teachers and leaders. It doesn’t need student records, and it doesn’t offer student accounts.
Teachers can type, speak, and upload files, so student information could still be entered by mistake. Lumerell warns teachers when it spots what looks like student details in text they type or import, and asks its drafting provider not to repeat them, but it can’t catch everything or guarantee that nothing identifying is ever entered.
How your work is used
Anything Lumerell drafts is a draft. It changes your map only when you ask it to, and you can undo those changes.
To draft materials, reviews, illustrations, and voice features, Lumerell sends the needed text to the providers named in the Privacy Policy, under terms where they don’t use it to train their models.
We don’t sell or rent your information, or use it for advertising.
Who can see a teacher’s work
Your work is private unless you share it, or your district uses the leader view. Nothing is shared automatically. Leaders may see anonymous usage totals, never your content.
- Sharing is your choice: a colleague by email, or your whole district. You can stop at any time.
- Never shared: goals, goal evidence, reflections, and “How it went” notes. School closures and the course’s own events, like tests and field trips, travel with a shared map. Absences never do.
- Leaders can read (never change) your curriculum only when your district chose it, a district leader turned it on, and you’ve clicked “Got it” on a notice and haven’t turned it off in Settings. District leaders can read curriculum for every school in the district.
- Usage totals are counts only, never per teacher, and groups of fewer than five teachers are hidden.
Google connections
You can sign in with Google, pick individual files from Google Drive, and save work to Google Docs. Lumerell can see only the Drive files you pick and the ones it saves for you.
You can import school-calendar days from Google Calendar, which Lumerell reads but never changes. Lumerell does not connect to Google Classroom.
Where data lives, and your controls
Lumerell is hosted in the United States (Vercel and Supabase).
You can download your data or delete your account from Settings at any time.
